Undav brace sends Stuttgart fourth, Frankfurt win late in Bundesliga

Deniz Undav, the German forward, scored two goals to help Stuttgart claim a 3-2 victory at home against Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Sunday, recovering from a deficit, while Eintracht Frankfurt defeated Mainz.

This success represents Stuttgart's sixth win in their last seven league fixtures and elevates the German Cup champions to fourth spot in the standings.

Fabian Rieder opened the scoring for the away side after eight minutes, yet Stuttgart's Maximilian Mittelstaedt drew level from a penalty ten minutes later.

Han-Noah Massengo regained the advantage for Augsburg halfway through the first period, but Undav replied for the home team by heading home a cross from Angelo Stiller before the interval.

In the 80th minute, Stiller spotted the charging Undav once more, who controlled the ball near the penalty area edge and slotted it into the near corner.

During Sunday's evening fixture, Japanese winger Ritsu Doan found the net late on to secure a 1-0 home triumph for Eintracht Frankfurt over their local opponents Mainz.

The initial half featured subpar play from both outfits, though Frankfurt improved post halftime, dominating and confining Mainz to their own territory.

At the 80-minute stage, Doan advanced along the right, outmanoeuvred two Mainz players, and drove a low effort into the goal.

The result propelled Frankfurt up to seventh place, as Mainz stay mired in the lower reaches.

Freiburg overcame St Pauli 2-1 in the day's final encounter.
