Trossard Calls Arsenal Victory Over Leverkusen Perfect Build Up to League Cup Showdown

Leandro Trossard believes Arsenals success in the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen serves as ideal groundwork for their upcoming League Cup final against Manchester City on Sunday.

As City exited the top tier tournament following defeat to powerhouses Real Madrid, Arsenal advanced to the quarter finals with a comfortable 2-0 triumph over the Bundesliga side, securing a 3-1 overall lead.

All eyes are now on Wembley, where the table topping Gunners aim to kick off a potential historic quadruple by overcoming City to claim the seasons opening major honour in England.

"We are really excited about it," Trossard, the Arsenal winger, shared on the teams official site.

"This is among our key goals too, and I am confident the squad will be fully prepared.

"We remain in contention across all competitions at present, so it is vital we maintain momentum match by match, with each fixture holding great significance, and our aim is to secure victories in them all."

The 31 year old Belgian star delivered the assist for Eberechi Ezes opener versus Leverkusen, a powerful effort from just outside the penalty area.

"That was a fantastic strike," Trossard commented on the English midfielders impressive finish.

"His skills shine through, particularly near the box, the confidence in his shot and the way it found the net.

"Goals like that come along rarely, perhaps only a handful of times in a players career. Well done to him, and I am delighted with it."

Trossard continued: "We put in a solid showing, particularly in controlling the opening period and creating numerous opportunities.

"The team clearly relished the match on the field, and that energy passed to the supporters too, we performed excellently, making it an excellent result for us.

"The task was to seal the win, and we accomplished it effectively."

Declan Rices effort in the second period confirmed Arsenals progression, setting up a last eight clash with Portugals Sporting Lisbon next month.
