TPS maintain unbeaten Veikkausliiga start as SJK pick up first three points

TPS 2-1 Lahti

Securing a draw on the road against Mariehamn marked a solid beginning for the previous seasons playoff victors, and they built on that by claiming all three points in their initial home fixture back in the elite league.

The first goal came right at the intervals end. Lahti struggled to deal with a loose ball bouncing in their penalty area, allowing Eetu Turkki to direct a header across the face for Theodoros Tsirigotis to steer in with his own head.

Tsirigotis switched roles to assist just five minutes after the restart, setting up Marius Konkkola who scored his opening effort of the campaign, reminiscent of their Liiga Cup encounter in January.

Momodou Sarr had clinched the win for Lahti in their debut away fixture versus Jaro, yet his strike with 16 minutes remaining proved merely a late comfort here, as the Turku outfit clung on to triumph in this clash of sides freshly elevated to the top tier.

SJK 3-0 Mariehamn

After suffering a 3-0 defeat to HJK in their season opener, SJK responded emphatically with a straightforward 3-0 triumph over Mariehamn on home soil.

The breakthrough arrived shortly before the 30-minute mark, executed with ease as Kasper Paananens curling delivery was powered into the net from the heart of the six-yard area by Kelvin Pires.

Merely seven minutes into the latter period, the scoreline read 2-0 for the home team when Salim Yussif surged forward centrally before slipping the pass to Paananen, who shook off defenders and rifled his shot beyond the custodians reach.

The final flourish came in the dying moments of the 90th, courtesy of Paananens substitute Elias Mastokangas linking with fellow replacement Jeremiah Streng, capping a rewarding night for the Seinajoki outfit.

VPS 0-0 Jaro

No strikes materialised in Vaasa, with VPS recording another blank scoreline to launch their 2026 efforts, as Jaro grabbed an initial point yet still seek their maiden goal this term.

Jaro certainly pushed for more, unleashing 18 attempts over the full match, though their five efforts on frame were all repelled by Mamodou Jalloh between the posts for the hosts.
