Tottenham's Johnson finalises transfer to Crystal Palace

Brennan Johnson finalised his transfer from Tottenham to Crystal Palace on Friday, with the deal reportedly worth £35 million, equivalent to $47 million.

The 24 year old Welsh international has agreed to a four and a half year contract at Selhurst Park.

Despite topping the scores for the London side last term, the attacker lost his place in the team under Thomas Frank at Spurs and could feature for the first time for Palace in their Premier League clash with Newcastle at St James Park on Sunday.

"I am thrilled and delighted," commented Johnson, now the Eagles biggest acquisition ever. "I have long respected Crystal Palace as an outstanding club.

"This feels like the perfect moment for me to arrive and contribute to the clubs ongoing progress."

Oliver Glasner, the Palace boss, added: "Brennan brings versatility to our forward line thanks to his speed and knack for finding the net."

In the previous campaign, Johnson netted 18 times and grabbed the decisive goal in the Europa League final versus Manchester United, securing Tottenham's first trophy in 17 years.

That said, he has mostly served as a substitute behind Mohammed Kudus after Frank took over from Ange Postecoglou.

This signing represents a major lift for Glasner, whose depleted squad is battling just to stay afloat post their 1-1 result against Fulham on Thursday.

Lying tenth in the Premier League standings as defending FA Cup champions, Palace head to Newcastle hoping to snap a winless streak spanning six games across all tournaments.
