Tottenham manager Frank views lack of European games as benefit for Man Utd

Tottenham Hotspur coach Thomas Frank has praised Michael Carricks early success in his temporary role at Manchester United but argues that drawing parallels between the teams is unjust considering the lack of continental fixtures at Old Trafford.

United sitting in fourth have shown impressive improvement since the ex Tottenham player Carrick stepped in last month securing victories in all three domestic matches including a narrow 3 2 triumph over table topping Arsenal in the Premier League.

In comparison Tottenham head to Old Trafford for Saturdays clash in 14th position after struggling to build momentum from their Europa League final victory against United back in May of the previous year.

Despite an injury plagued squad remaining undefeated over four outings Tottenham have only triumphed in two of their previous 15 league encounters and trail United by 12 points.

Frank noted during Fridays pre game media briefing that Manchester Uniteds absence from European action provides useful background.

He remarked that everyone recognises the additional demands it brings yet it is a hurdle they welcome.

Frank suggested evaluating them fairly under identical conditions adding that the goal is to excel sustain strong showings and overcome Manchester United.

The Danish coach also highlighted that Carrick has introduced vitality to the squad.

He commented on Carricks excellent beginning observing that the team appears revitalised with several players in fine form.

Frank pointed out known dangers from players like Bryan Mbeumo Amad Diallo Matheus Cunha and Bruno Fernandes who continues to orchestrate the team a role he has fulfilled remarkably for the past four or five seasons.

It presents a danger and a test but one they anticipate eagerly.

Frank faces a choice on including Cristian Romero after the Tottenham skippers recent controversial social media post from earlier this week.

However Tottenham will miss Pedro Porro Kevin Danso Ben Davies Rodrigo Bentancur Lucas Bergvall James Maddison Mohammed Kudus Dejan Kulusevski and Richarlison.

Regarding Djed Spence Frank said he is nearing a return though it remains uncertain.
