Tottenham Dismisses Thomas Frank After Home Loss to Newcastle

Tottenham Hotspur have dismissed head coach Thomas Frank following a 2-1 home defeat to Newcastle on Tuesday, which positioned them only five points clear of the Premier League relegation zone after less than eight months under his management.

The North London club sit 16th in the standings and have not secured a victory in their last eight Premier League fixtures, marking their poorest run since October 2008.

Spurs have managed just two wins from their previous 17 league encounters, accumulating a mere 12 points during that period.

A Tottenham announcement on Wednesday stated, "The club has decided to alter the men's head coach role, with Thomas Frank departing immediately."

"Thomas joined in June 2025, and we committed to providing him ample time and backing to shape our long term plans collectively.

Nevertheless, recent outcomes and displays have prompted the board to determine that an adjustment now is essential."

Previously at Brentford, another London outfit, Frank assumed control at Spurs in June succeeding Ange Postecoglou's dismissal.

His three year deal extended until 2028, yet he failed to reverse the team's domestic fortunes, even as they excelled in Europe.

The Danish manager guided Spurs to direct entry into the Champions League knockout phase by placing fourth in their group.

That achievement was undermined by a league tally of seven victories, eight stalemates, and 11 losses this campaign.

The statement continued, "During his tenure, Thomas demonstrated steadfast dedication, pouring all his energy into advancing the club."

"We appreciate his input and extend best wishes for his upcoming endeavours."

Tottenham have exited domestic cups, falling to Newcastle in the League Cup fourth round in October and to Aston Villa in the FA Cup third round recently.
