Tottenham backs Udogie following reported firearm threat in London
Tottenham Hotspur have expressed their full support for the 22-year-old Italian defender Destiny Udogie and his relatives after claims he faced a gun threat in the capital.
Officers detained a 31-year-old individual related to the September occurrence. He remains on bail pending further probes.
A club representative commented on Tuesday: "We have offered assistance to Destiny and his family from the time of the event and plan to maintain that help.
"Since this concerns a judicial issue, no additional remarks are possible."
Law enforcement attended the scene in the late evening of September 6 after alerts of a man in his twenties being menaced with a firearm in a northern London neighbourhood favoured by Tottenham and Arsenal athletes.
An authority figure noted: "Investigators consulted the affected person and, amid the examination, discovered reports that another individual in his twenties had likewise been coerced and intimidated by the same party.
"Neither case resulted in any physical harm.
"On Monday September 8, a 31-year-old male was apprehended for suspected offences of firearms possession with intent, extortion, and operating a vehicle without proper authorisation."
Udogie lined up from the start in Tottenham's 4-0 Champions League victory over Copenhagen at home on Tuesday.
