This new Socceroo had never even visited Australia - until now
The forward from Hibernian earned an unexpected selection for Australias last two matches on home soil ahead of the major international event in North America later this year.
The team will take on Cameroon in Sydney this Friday and other World Cup contenders Curacao in Melbourne next Tuesday.
The 25 year old Suto grew up in Croatia yet he carries an Australian passport thanks to his father.
"It is actually the first time I have been here," said Suto.
"All I can say is the weather here is far superior to that in Scotland and I am delighted to arrive.
"It is a fantastic chance for me."
Suto has scored three goals across seven outings for Hibs since transferring there last month from Croatian elite club Slaven Belupo.
He plays alongside another Australian national team member Martin Boyle in Scotland.
Suto revealed that contemplating his quick ascent sends shivers down his spine.
"When I moved to Scotland I started strongly. I anticipated a solid start but not to this extent. It all unfolded rapidly and I could not be happier than I am at present," he said.
"My role is to find the net with goals and I excel at it too so hopefully I will net some for the Socceroos."
With Norwich forward Mohamed Toure, the EFL Young Player of the Month for February, out due to a groin problem, Suto may have an opening to display his talents.
Australia manager Tony Popovic described the fixtures as the ultimate opportunity to catch the eye before the group travels to their World Cup hub in Oakland California.
In contrast captain Mat Ryan is about to collect his 102nd cap versus Cameroon while readying himself for a fourth World Cup appearance.
"I thrive on victory in this field and thus I am striving to assemble all I can to aid the side I represent in achieving success," said the Levante shot stopper.
"Whether that involves talking things through or offering views on specific situations first and foremost I must ensure I am performing adequately on my part.
"Because actions always speak louder than words."
