Tammy Abraham Returns to Aston Villa to Strengthen Premier League Title Challenge
Aston Villa have brought in Tammy Abraham from Besiktas on Tuesday to enhance their attacking lineup amid a surprising push for the Premier League crown.
The forward is back in England following five years overseas, including stints at Roma, AC Milan, and the last six months with the Turkish club.
Currently trailing leaders Arsenal by just four points, Villa are chasing their first top division title since 1981.
Unai Emerys side also rank among the top contenders for Europa League success.
The club are said to have paid £18 million ($25 million) for Abraham, after Besiktas activated a clause to make his loan from Roma permanent earlier this month for £11 million.
The 28 year old holds special memories of Villa Park from a previous loan during his Chelsea days.
During that period, he netted 26 goals in 40 games, helping Villa earn promotion to the Premier League from the Championship.
"Certain teams shape your career and leave a lasting impact," Abraham commented.
"Ive scored plenty, overcome hurdles, and developed both on and off the pitch.
"Now back at Aston Villa, Im eager to contribute fully and work hard."
Abraham departed Chelsea in 2021 for £34 million to join Roma, where he played a key role in securing the clubs inaugural European honour by winning the Conference League in his debut season.
Yet a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury hampered his time in Italy prior to a loan switch to Milan for the 2024/25 season.
He moved to Besiktas in July, where he scored 13 goals across 26 outings in various competitions.
