Swiss league showdown between top side Thun and Basel put on hold after blaze

A blaze that broke out late on Friday harmed the players footwear and uniforms, together with healthcare and technical gear. Nobody got hurt and the cause of the incident remains unclear, according to the team.

The club noted that the zone is now cordoned off, and in an official release they added: “Owing to the harm done... and the shortage of workable playing and healthcare gear, Basel cannot take part in the away fixture versus Thun this Saturday."

The competition has given the go-ahead for the rescheduling and a fresh date will be set, the club announced.

Basel hold fourth place in the table, trailing the frontrunners Thun by 18 points, with Thun on 71 points after 32 fixtures.
