Sunderland denounces racist online harassment targeting Brian Brobbey after Tottenham triumph
Brobbey played a pivotal role in a critical moment during the match, as Tottenham captain Cristian Romero clashed with his own goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky while under intense pressure from the Sunderland striker.
Romero left the field in tears, and Kinsky managed to finish the contest with a thick bandage wrapped around his head.
"We stand firmly with Brian and offer him our full and unwavering support," Sunderland declared in an official statement.
The team emphasised that such harassment is not a standalone occurrence, noting that Romaine Mundle and Lutsharel Geertruida have endured comparable abuse over the past few weeks.
"The club has reported this incident to the Premier League, the relevant social media platforms, and the police, and we expect swift action to be taken against those responsible," they stated.
Sunderland rose to 10th place in the standings and are scheduled to take on fourth-placed Aston Villa this Sunday.
