South Korea outline preparation strategy against Bafana Bafana for 2026 World Cup

Bafana Bafana will face South Korea in their concluding match in Guadalajara on 24 June, the same venue where the South Koreans intend to establish their training base for the duration of the competition.

Prior to arriving there, the team plans to base themselves in Salt Lake City, a choice made by head coach Hong Myung-Bo owing to the comparable environmental factors to those in Guadalajara, particularly the elevation of approximately 5000 feet.

Hong Myung-Bo is scheduled to reveal his definitive roster on 16 May, providing Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos with sufficient time to deliberate on his selections. Broos anticipates announcing his final squad roughly nine or ten days subsequently.

The South Korean delegation will travel to the United States on 18 May and aims to schedule two warm-up matches during their training period. They plan to transfer to Guadalajara on 5 June, seven days ahead of their tournament debut against the Czech Republic in Zapopan on 11 June.

Their next fixture will be versus Mexico in Zapopan on 18 June, preceding the showdown with Bafana Bafana.
