Sonderjyske boss Thomas Norgaard set to succeed Steve Cooper at Brondby

Thomas Norgaard takes over as the new head coach at Brondby with immediate effect. The club confirmed this on its website: "At Brondby IF, we want courage, intensity and community to be visible in everything we do. We believe that Thomas is the right person to strengthen the qualities around our first team," said Brondby football director Julius Ohnesorge.

"He combines strong professional football skills with clear leadership, high standards and a genuine ability to bring people together around a common goal."

Thomas Norgaard has previously been head coach at AB, Lyngby Boldklub and B93, as well as assistant coach at Czech club Sparta Prague.

As a teenager, he played youth football at Brondby and was captain of both the U17 and U19 teams at the club, without, however, breaking into the first team.

Therefore, he is now proud to be able to return (as a replacement for the dismissed Steve Cooper).

"I was a 15-year-old boy from Herlev who joined the academy at Brondby with all the dreams you have when you hope to one day stand at Brondby Stadium. It did not work out as a player, so sometimes you have to find another way to your dreams," said Thomas Nørgaard:

"I knew early on that I wanted to be a football coach, and for almost 25 years, I have worked purposefully to become skilled enough to be here today. Therefore, it is with both humility, pride and great motivation that I look forward to the challenge that we must now undertake together."

The new head coach has been awarded a contract until the summer of 2029. He will be joined by assistant coach Lasse Frolund and analyst Carl-Emil Lopdrup.
