Slot asserts no extra strain on Liverpool following additional lost points versus Brighton
Brighton dominated the away side during their triumph at the Amex Stadium, resulting in title holders Liverpool securing only one point from their previous nine on offer.
Although they held onto fifth position in the standings, this recent performance has enabled rivals to narrow the gap and threaten their spot.
"Pressure is constant at Liverpool. It affects me and the squad. That is entirely expected," Slot explained to TNT Sports.
"We have advanced to the FA Cup quarter finals and the Champions League last eight, yet in the Premier League, our goal must be to secure Champions League qualification come the season's close.
"I truly dislike our defeat here, yet facing Brighton on their turf remains challenging while they continue acquiring top talent.
“However, there were matches where we ought to have gained additional points, such as against Tottenham last week. That outcome is much harder to accept than this one. Even at Brighton, a team of Liverpool's calibre should achieve a positive result."
Slot recognised that his team has faced difficulties following European fixtures, after comfortably beating Galatasaray 4-0 in the Champions League earlier this week.
"Evidently, we have surrendered numerous points post European outings. I have attempted to clarify the reasons multiple times, but credit must go to Brighton too. During the second period, they outperformed us," he noted.
Slot further lamented his team's misfortune with injuries, as winger Mohamed Salah and keeper Alisson were sidelined prior to kick off, with forward Hugo Ekitike departing shortly after the start.
"His exit preventing him from aiding the side feels like unfortunate timing," Slot remarked.
"It is not as if he faces a lengthy absence, but it was sufficient to keep him off the pitch. That impacted him personally and hindered our efforts."
