Sevilla dismiss head coach Matias Almeyda as team battles to avoid drop
The team from Andalusia, sitting three points clear of the bottom three, put out a concise announcement showing appreciation for the 52-year-old ex-Argentina player, who took up the role in Seville only last July.
"Matias Almeyda has been relieved of his duties as Sevilla FC first team head coach," the announcement stated.
"Sevilla FC want to thank Matias Almeyda and his team for his efforts and professionalism and wish him the best for the future."
The announcement offered no details on a successor or possible caretaker manager, with a two-week international pause coming up.
Almeyda launched his managerial path at River Plate back in 2011, took charge of AEK Athens between 2022 and 2025, prior to signing a three-year agreement with Sevilla.
