Senne Lammens Thrilled by Premier League's Intensity as Man Utd Keeper

Senne Lammens, Manchester Uniteds goalkeeper, is savouring the robust demands of the Premier League following a gritty 1-0 triumph on the road against Everton.

In Mondays encounter at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, Everton sought to unsettle Lammens by packing his six-yard area amid a string of corners, while the Toffees also fired in numerous efforts from distance at the 23-year-old.

Yet the Belgian, previously at Royal Antwerp, stood resolute to build on his strong debut campaign in the Premier League.

A number of goalkeepers from abroad have found it tough at first to cope with the demanding style of English football.

Lammens though is embracing the battle, his performances aiding Uniteds return to the top four under interim boss Michael Carrick.

"For me, its just the way it is," he commented on Thursday. "It is the Premier League. Its also physicality and, like you say, a bit of war in the (penalty box). Its also one of my strengths, so sometimes I like the challenge as well."

He continued: "Of course there have to be certain rules, it cant get to the point where its too much.

"But I enjoy it as well, getting out of my comfort zone a little bit and dealing with those situations because now even though there were a lot of bodies next to me, I still came from crosses so that also gives me a good feeling that Im doing well and doing those things well."

United secured Lammens for £18 million ($24 million) on the final day of the transfer window in September, and he has since overtaken the inconsistent Altay Bayindir, who had stepped in for the Red Devils after Andre Onana.

This marks just the second senior season for the 6ft 4in (1.93 metres) Lammens, yet he has adapted swiftly to the pressures of starring for a prominent outfit like United.

"I said a couple of weeks ago that I couldnt really imagine it going any better," Lammens noted.

"But also I dont really want to look too much to the past. Its been great but I still have to prove myself every week."
