Senegal files formal challenge with CAS over AFCON title revocation
Senegal was deemed to have forfeited the match in Rabat on 18 January after leaving the field in protest over a key penalty decision in favour of their rivals Morocco.
The team came back after 14 minutes and secured a 1-0 victory, yet the appeals committee of Africas football authority (CAF) last week overturned this outcome to award Morocco a 3-0 win.
"The FSF appeal seeks to set aside the CAF decision and declare the FSF winners of AFCON. It also requests an immediate suspension of the time limit to submit an appeal brief until the CAF decision is notified with full grounds," the CAS stated.
"A CAS Arbitral Panel will be appointed to consider this matter. Following this, a procedural calendar will be established."
The Senegalese authorities previously demanded an investigation into the stripping of the championship.
Legal representatives for the FSF are set to speak at a media event in Paris on Thursday.
