Sean Dyche takes over from Postecoglou as Nottingham Forest manager

Nottingham Forest has named Sean Dyche as their new head coach with a contract lasting until 2027, the Premier League outfit revealed on Tuesday.

The 54 year old ex Burnley and Everton manager steps in for Ange Postecoglou after the Australian got the boot on Saturday, just 40 days into his stint at the City Ground.

Dyche, who came through the ranks at Forest during the era of legendary boss Brian Clough, marks the clubs third manager this season, taking his first role since departing Everton earlier this year.

Reports suggested that ex Manchester City and Italy head Roberto Mancini held discussions with Forest regarding the position, and Fulham manager Marco Silva was also connected to the opening.

However, Forest chose Dyche, stating in an official release: A highly regarded and seasoned Premier League coach, Dyche offers the ideal mix of personality, strategic insight, and demonstrated success to steer the club forward in its upcoming phase.

Dyches debut match will be Thursdays Europa League clash hosting Porto, followed by his initial Premier League outing away at Bournemouth on Sunday.

His backroom team features two ex Forest stars, Ian Woan and Steve Stone.

Postecoglou was axed shortly after Saturdays 3-0 defeat to Chelsea, setting a record as the briefest permanent manager in Premier League annals.

Owner Evangelos Marinakis removed the former Spurs coach following a winless start across his first eight matches.

Postecoglou came in after Nuno Espirito Santos departure, the latter himself dismissed in September amid a breakdown in his rapport with Marinakis.

Forest sit in the Premier League drop zone with only five points from eight outings, even though their roster received boosts exceeding £100 million ($134 million) in the summer transfers.
