Scholes reconciles with Carrick following remark about ex Man Utd colleague

Paul Scholes insists he had no intention of upsetting his former Manchester United colleague Michael Carrick after a critical comment about the temporary manager at Old Trafford on social media.

After Manchester Uniteds 2 1 loss to Newcastle in the Premier League last Wednesday, Scholes posted on Instagram highlighting the teams recent string of subpar showings.

Michael has certainly got a unique quality because United have been dreadful over the past four matches Scholes posted on Instagram.

This marked Carricks initial loss since he stepped in for the dismissed Ruben Amorim back in January.

Manchester United have risen to third place in the Premier League standings and are in contention for Champions League spots having remained undefeated in Carricks opening seven fixtures before the setback against Newcastle.

Scholes shared the midfield with Carrick at United for seven seasons and another former teammate Patrice Evra took issue with Scholes words suggesting he hoped the account had been compromised.

During an appearance on The Good The Bad and The Football podcast alongside ex United players Wes Brown and Nicky Butt Scholes sought to smooth things over with Carrick on Monday.

Michael ranks among the kindest individuals in football he would be the very last person Id wish to upset remarked the ex England international.

I contacted Michael directly and told him I never meant to cause any distress. I probably did not even need to explain that and he assured me he was not bothered by it.

I believe some folks misinterpreted my words. All I meant was that the team has not performed strongly in the last four outings yet he continues to secure points.
