Sacha Boey Returns to Galatasaray on Loan Deal from Bayern Munich
The French full-back Sacha Boey is back at Turkish club Galatasaray after agreeing a six-month loan spell with Bayern Munich, as announced by the Bundesliga outfit on Thursday.
Earlier this year, in January 2024, Boey made the switch to Bayern from Galatasaray, signing a contract until the summer of 2028 for around 30 million euros, equivalent to 35 million dollars, though he has not managed to hit top gear in the Bavarian capital.
Over his two seasons in Germany, the 25-year-old has battled fitness issues and inconsistency, featuring in just 38 matches for the club.
Bayern's director of sport Max Eberl believes this transfer will give Boey the chance to "gain minutes on the big stage" within the Turkish Super Lig.
"Sacha is familiar with Galatasaray from his previous stint and should settle in quickly back in a known setting," Eberl continued.
As a right-back, Boey appeared 83 times for Galatasaray between 2021 and 2024, netting four goals during that period.
Reports in the German press suggest that this loan arrangement includes a clause allowing for a permanent purchase.
Galatasaray are set to take on Italian powerhouse Juventus in a Champions League knockout playoff over two legs during February.
The current Turkish champions and cup holders top the league table, holding a three-point lead ahead of their main competitors Fenerbahce.
