Rosenior praises 'world class' Joao Pedro following hat-trick that overpowers Villa
Liam Rosenior described Joao Pedro as "world class" following the Brazilian forwards hat-trick which powered a 4 1 victory over Aston Villa on Wednesday.
The strikers initial Premier League hat-trick propelled Chelsea up to fifth position, trailing fourth placed Villa by merely three points in the contest for next years Champions League spot.
Cole Palmer netted as well during a standout evening for the Blues, who overturned Douglas Luizs early strike to halt their three game league drought without a win.
Yet it was Joao Pedro, boasting 14 league strikes this term, who drew the highest praise from Rosenior.
"Hes a premier talent. Hes building assurance. That left footed effort is world class. The execution was superb," he remarked.
"Yet Im truly pleased with his pair of close range finishes. He positioned himself perfectly.
"We drilled that aspect with him, yet he claims the hat-trick. Its tough to highlight one individual, but the team effort was exceptional."
This marked the finest showing in Roseniors two month tenure, and with defeats for Manchester United and Liverpool in midweek action, Chelsea have bolstered their Champions League pursuit.
"Its meaningful only if we follow through. Consistency is key," Rosenior noted.
"We face a major FA Cup clash, then a vital encounter in Paris for the Champions League, followed by another key matchup versus Newcastle.
"We must sustain it without fixating on the matches importance. Just deliver performances, and well be well positioned."
Villa entered with optimism after Luiz scored within three minutes, eyeing a boost to their Champions League hopes, but the evening soured for them.
Unai Emerys squad has secured just one victory in their past six league outings.
"Were enduring a tough spell. Reasons? Perhaps our framework has faltered," Emery commented.
"Our setup was exceptionally solid during our steady run across competitions. The goals ahead remain achievable with time to rebound.
"Were recognising this dip, seeking remedies, thats my priority.
"This is the time for unity and intensified effort."
