Rosenior: No Set Timeline for Palmer to Reach Peak Condition

Liam Rosenior, manager of Chelsea, stated that he needs to keep evaluating Cole Palmer's condition on a match by match basis, following a season affected by injury for the England player.

An ongoing groin problem has restricted Palmer's contributions for several months.

The 23 year old came on only as a substitute after half time when Chelsea exited the League Cup following a semi final loss to Arsenal on Tuesday.

Three days before that, Palmer had completed the full 90 minutes as Chelsea recovered from 2 0 behind to win 3 2 against West Ham.

A major factor in Enzo Maresca's exit as Chelsea manager in January involved a conflict over squad management, with high ranking club officials pushing for the medical staff to have more influence on choosing the lineup.

"We possess the top medical staff globally and the finest sports science unit worldwide, and our goal is to ensure players perform at the required standard to secure victories," Rosenior commented.

"No specific period exists for him to achieve perfection in one month or two or three, it is simply assessed match by match."

Down 3 2 from the initial League Cup semi final match, Rosenior's careful tactics in the return fixture attracted complaints for lacking sufficient aggression.

Chelsea held possession for prolonged periods at the Emirates yet posed little danger until Kai Havertz converted the evening's lone goal in the closing moments of added time.

Still, he justified his strategy and the overall showing, pointing out that Chelsea sustained the challenge for 97 minutes versus the Premier League frontrunners.

"Opinions from those outside the club hold no sway over my choices," Rosenior further noted.

"Looking back, since we did not advance, there are inevitably adjustments one might make, yet it was an extremely strong display against a side highly effective on their own ground."
