Revitalised FC Copenhagen build on turnaround under Bo Svensson with last-minute triumph in Randers

Randers 1-2 FC Copenhagen

Bo Svensson, the newly appointed FC Copenhagen manager, appears to have introduced considerable positive momentum into the role.

Following the impressive performance in his initial game versus Silkeborg, FC Copenhagen secured a rather lucky 2-1 victory on the road against Randers FC during Sunday evenings match.

Randers dominated much of the encounter, yet they allowed two goals in the final eight minutes. This result lifts the away team to seventh position, whereas Randers now holds just four points clear of Silkeborg, who sit just above the drop zone.

Randers rightfully went ahead after 65 minutes as Mathias Greve delivered a corner to the far post, allowing Daniel Hoegh to get ahead of Mohamed Elyounoussi and guide the ball beyond FC Copenhagen goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski.

Unexpectedly, the Copenhagen side equalised eight minutes before the end when Randers stopper Paul Izzo failed to hold a powerful effort from Elias Achouri, enabling Viktor Claesson to capitalise on the loose ball and level the score at 1-1.

In the dying moments, FC Copenhagen grabbed the decisive goal as Andreas Cornelius flicked a cross from Achouri towards William Clem, who smashed it home with a volley past the stranded Izzo.

Silkeborg IF 3-1 OB

In the remaining relegation playoff fixture of the Danish Superliga, Silkeborg, still smarting from their heavy defeat to FC Copenhagen the previous weekend, gained a vital lift in their battle against the drop on Sunday by overturning a deficit to beat OB 3-1 at home.

Odenses guests began strongly, taking the lead after 28 minutes when Nicolai Larsen could merely block a strike from Rasmus Falk, leaving Marcus McCoy to convert the follow-up.

Silkeborg responded by equalising on 67 minutes, with Tonni Adamsen collecting a pass in the area and chipping it up for Pedro Ganchas, who nodded it into the net. Just four minutes later, the hosts seized control as Adamsen provided the assist once more, this time to Oliver Ross, who slotted a precise effort into the distant corner.

Adamsen capped his outstanding display by netting the third goal himself with one minute left on the clock.

Silkeborg therefore occupies 11th spot, trailing Fredericia by a single point just outside the relegation places, though Fredericia face Vejle at home on Monday.
