Rennes Appoints Haise as New Coach After Dismissing Beye

Rennes named Franck Haise as their latest manager on Wednesday, stepping in for Habib Beye following the sacking of the ex-Newcastle player last week.

The French coach has agreed to a deal running through to 2027, coming in as Beye departed with the team holding sixth spot in Ligue 1.

Beye remains connected to the open role at Marseille, though any shift to the Stade Velodrome awaits resolution on his compensation terms with Rennes.

At 54 years old, Haise led Lens into the Champions League group phase during the 2023-24 campaign, after they came second in the prior Ligue 1 term.

He moved to Nice back in June 2024 yet departed that December, having secured only five victories across 16 top-flight fixtures. Haise heads back to Brittany having spent six years coaching within the Rennes youth setup between 2006 and 2012.

"Returning to Rennes fills me with delight, a real honour alongside my team, to align with a club of this calibre," Haise commented via an official release.

"In the time since I left in 2012, the team has advanced considerably, shown through the outstanding facilities that continue to improve.

"The enthusiasm surrounding the club keeps rising, and those are the factors making me fortunate to contribute to this initiative."

Haise's debut match comes on Sunday away to faltering Auxerre.

Rennes shocked Paris Saint-Germain with a 3-1 triumph last Friday and look set to claim a position in the upcoming Europa League.
