Remarkable Stats Showcasing Relebohile Mofokeng's Impressive Season to Date
Relebohile Mofokeng proved pivotal once more by setting up a goal for Oswin Appollis before adding a brilliant finish of his own to hit double digits for league goals this campaign.
It is astonishing to reflect that midway through November he had yet to record a goal or assist and was only sporadically featuring for the team.
His debut contribution arrived as a last-gasp assist for Yanele Mbuthuma during a 3-1 victory away to Lamontville Golden Arrows.
However from the beginning of the year no player in the South African top division has matched his output.
That opening goal materialised in a 2-0 home success against Magesi FC towards the end of January and he has since netted 10 times across just 12 fixtures. Factor in five further assists over the same span and that makes 15 direct involvements from his past 12 league outings.
No other individual has produced anything like that run of performances.
All told he has amassed 17 contributions comprising 10 goals and seven assists from 18 league starts this term plus 22 games in total.
His impact has been more limited elsewhere with only one assist from nine outings though most of those preceded his blistering run that ignited in January.
The timing could not be better for Mofokeng in his campaign to earn a Bafana Bafana berth for the 2026 World Cup where he now seems a lock for the roster challenging Themba Zwane for the number 10 spot in support of Lyle Foster.
Overall he has tallied 29 goals alongside 30 assists across 120 appearances for Pirates counting from his initial outing in the 2022/23 term.
