Real Madrid eyes role for ex-star Kroos in club sports setup
Kroos wrapped up his playing days in 2024 following a decade at Los Blancos. In his stint at Real Madrid, he lifted the Champions League trophy five times and secured the domestic league crown four times.
Over the last couple of seasons, Real has struggled to live up to the lofty standards. This term, the team dismissed manager Xabi Alonso ahead of schedule, and it now looks likely they will end the year empty handed.
They have already exited the cup competition, and with just seven games remaining in the league, they sit nine points behind title holders FC Barcelona.
In the Champions League last eight clash, Real suffered a 2-1 defeat in the opening leg versus Bayern, and they head to Munich for the second leg on Wednesday.
Real braced for crucial clash in Munich
"Munich or bust," declared AS after the frustrating draw with FC Girona (1-1) on Friday night.
"We must concentrate on Wednesday, as we need to pour everything into it," remarked manager Alvaro Arbeloa following the match, keen to brush off the recent disappointment swiftly.
"Wednesday represents our key opportunity. Everyone understands that. All our efforts go towards it. We must head to Germany brimming with belief."
Toni Kroos will not feature immediately, though his comeback could happen as soon as this summer.
