Rayo Vallecano advances to Conference League final following narrow victory over Strasbourg

A stunning one handed stop by Mike Penders during the seventh minute denied Alemão an early advantage for Rayo, while Jorge de Frutos blazed over for the away side from a promising position.

In comparison, Strasbourg had only achieved two contacts inside Rayo’s box by the halfway mark of the opening period, and they were finding it hard to establish any rhythm, as the flair from Valentin Barco and the flank contributions of Julio Enciso were entirely subdued.

Rayo on the other hand remain unbeaten across five fixtures (W4, D1), and justly progress to the final of the tournament to face Crystal Palace in Leipzig.
