PSG Ligue 1 game versus Lens rescheduled to support Champions League readiness

Brest's home match against Strasbourg, originally set for April 12, will now take place on May 13, allowing Strasbourg better preparation for their Europa Conference League quarter-final ties against Mainz, according to a statement from the LFP.

These choices align with the board of directors clear strategic goal of helping France hold onto its fifth position in the UEFA coefficient standings, ensuring four spots in the UEFA Champions League, the LFP explained in its announcement.

PSG, as the current European champions, will welcome Liverpool just three days prior to the planned Lens encounter and then head to Anfield for the return fixture on April 14.

In Ligue 1 standings, PSG and Lens differ by a single point, with PSG holding an extra match to play.

Lens had previously resisted PSG's postponement bid.

It appears to us that a concerning attitude is emerging: viewing the French league as increasingly becoming a tool for adjustments based on the European priorities of specific clubs, Lens stated on Monday.
