PSG comfortably defeat fifth-tier Fontenay to progress in French Cup
Ousmane Dembele broke his scoring slump as Paris Saint-Germain secured a straightforward 4-0 win against fifth-tier Vendee Fontenay on Saturday, advancing to the last 32 of the French Cup.
The 28-year-old forward, fresh from collecting the FIFA Best accolade alongside his Ballon d'Or honour earlier in the week, converted a penalty in the match hosted at Nantes' Stade de la Beaujoire.
PSG are chasing a third successive league and cup double this term, yet they hold second position in Ligue 1, trailing surprise frontrunners Lens by a single point.
Dembele provided the assist for Desire Doue's opener in the 25th minute, a composed low shot into the far corner.
Soon after, PSG earned a spot-kick due to a shirt tug on Goncalo Ramos, and Dembele took it to register his first goal since October, snapping a sequence of eight goalless outings.
Ramos extended the lead to three in the 53rd minute by converting Senny Mayulu's driven cross following a sharp counter-attack, then added another just five minutes on.
In other action, Lille required a late 80th-minute strike from Marius Broholm to edge out fourth-division Creteil 1-0, whereas Lorient dismantled Guadeloupe's AS Le Gosier 7-0 in a fixture held in a Paris suburb.
