Pochettino struggles to come to terms with Spurs battle for survival
Tottenham are languishing in 18th position with 34 points and just four games left, as they fight hard under Roberto De Zerbi to escape the drop zone.
The Argentine, who managed the north London club for five seasons and led them to the 2019 Champions League final before leaving shortly after, has shared his thoughts on the risk of relegation, a scenario that might devastate the team.
"It feels truly heartbreaking. Tottenham holds a special place in my heart, and it will always be a key chapter in my career," Pochettino shared on The Overlap's Stick to Football podcast.
"It is heartbreaking since I understand the pain everyone inside the club and the supporters are going through. Coming to terms with it is tough."
The Lilywhites secured their first Premier League win of 2026 at the weekend, edging out basement dwellers Wolves 1-0, yet West Hams success against Everton meant the gap remained unchanged.
However, that win came with a heavy price, as Xavi Simons sustained an ACL tear likely to sideline him for the World Cup.
Dominic Solanke has also been sidelined by a hamstring problem lately, further lengthening Tottenhams injury woes, which dims their hopes of Premier League survival this term, leaving fans and the former boss bracing for a tough outcome.
