Wilfried Nancy, Celtic's manager, emphasises that a player's character will play a vital role as he considers adding new talent to the Scottish title winners.

The French coach assumed control at the Glasgow powerhouse earlier this month and has been evaluating his current team in preparation for the January transfer period.

At present, Celtic sit in second place in the Scottish Premiership standings, trailing leaders Hearts by six points yet holding an extra fixture against the Edinburgh side.

"We possess considerable skill in our playing style," Nancy remarked before Saturday's away fixture against relegation-threatened Livingston at the foot of the table.

“It is crucial that new signings exhibit strong character," the ex-Columbus Crew head added.

"This (Celtic) represents a major club. Performing here is not straightforward. It is absolutely essential to recruit players capable of thriving in an environment like this.”

Nancy highlighted Celtic's defender Kieran Tierney as a prime illustration of the calibre of individual he values.

"Everyone is familiar with Kieran," he noted. "I was acquainted with him prior to joining. He serves as a key asset for the team. Personalities come in various forms. Kieran may not be outspoken in leadership but demonstrates it through his performances on the field.

“Callum (Celtic skipper Callum McGregor) likewise leads by example on the pitch, while also being vocal. We feature several others like them.

“By personalities, I mean more than just being outspoken, it involves displaying the correct mindset during tough times.

“This entails whether, during attacks, we continue supporting one another, maintaining pressure, or defending with utmost intensity when required. For me, it centres on mindset. That is precisely what I seek."
