Pereira expresses trust in Forest owner Marinakis despite three managerial sackings this season

Vitor Pereira stated that he has trust in Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, even though he is the fourth manager at the Premier League club this season.

The ex-Wolves manager has arrived at the City Ground on an 18-month contract following Sean Dyche's dismissal, which came after Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou were let go by Marinakis since August.

Pereira had previously collaborated with Marinakis during a prosperous period at Olympiacos in Greece.

"He is ambitious and desires victory," Pereira commented during his unveiling at a press conference on Tuesday. "He is emotional, and I know him well.

"Our discussion centred on our days at Olympiacos. I recall the energy and passion we generated. In Greece, there is an inner fire, and people appreciate that vitality.

"He requested that I remain true to myself, as he appreciated our successful collaboration when we secured the league and cup titles.

"It occurred midway through the season, and we built a strong rapport. He has faith in my abilities, and I have confidence in his character."

Pereira takes over a team that sits just three points above the relegation zone, with 12 Premier League matches left to play.

The Portuguese manager helped Wolves escape the drop zone last season but was removed in November following a run of 10 games without a win at the start of the current campaign.

However, Pereira, who will lead the side for the first time during Thursdays Europa League play-off trip to Fenerbahce, believes that Forest, who ended seventh last term, possess the talent to avoid relegation.

"This season has been challenging for the players due to varying approaches and multiple managers," the 57-year-old added.

"It is not straightforward, but I accepted this role because I trust the players quality, the clubs potential, and the presidents drive.

"Naturally, I think survival is achievable. I am confident we can earn points, achieve positive outcomes, and deliver strong performances in matches."
