Paris Saint-Germain preliminary court session on Mbappe league decision scheduled for February

A preliminary court session requested by Paris Saint-Germain concerning a ruling from the French Football League (LFP) in the conflict involving the club and Kylian Mbappe is set for February 23, as revealed by a source familiar with the situation to AFP on Tuesday.

This distinct matter ties into the heated clash between Mbappe and his previous team, which came before the French employment tribunal last week. In that hearing, the French forward pursued 263 million euros (304 million dollars) in damages, while the club hit back by seeking 440 million euros from him.

A judgment on that proceeding is due on December 16.

The February preliminary session relates to the disputes initial phase in September 2024, when the player, who moved to Real Madrid on a free transfer after seven years in the French capital, sought 55 million euros in unsettled wages and bonuses from his old club.

The French Football League mandated PSG to release this payment to Mbappe, with the ruling affirmed by their combined appeals panel in October 2024.

PSG rejected the payment and took the LFP to court in Paris, disputing those outcomes.

In response to the legal action, the LFPs disciplinary board, followed by the French Football Federations (FFF) appeals panel, ruled they lacked authority to address the challenge.

The initial session will assess the cases validity, after which the main trial usually follows a few weeks later.

PSG offered no response when reached by AFP.

Even though Mbappe dropped his complaint in July, a probe into unspecified individuals for emotional harassment persists, according to another source knowledgeable about the situation.

The 26 year old first submitted the complaint back in June regarding his handling by PSG at the onset of the 2023-24 season.

Mbappe maintained that the Qatari backed club benched him and assigned him to train alongside players they wished to transfer out, after he declined to commit to a contract renewal.
