Orlando Pirates yet to confirm venue for key match against Orbit College

Orlando Pirates had planned to host the match at the Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg but that location will not be ready until the end of June as stated by Orbit College who face relegation without providing details.

The team seeks a stadium with capacity exceeding 40,000 since this could mark the moment Pirates claim the league title for the first time since 2012.

Supporters of Pirates would fill the venue multiple times with crowds eager to witness the historic event.

Possible choices include Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban or the vast 94,000 capacity FNB Stadium in Soweto near the clubs Orlando base.

Orbit College would like to notify fans supporters partners media and the broader football world that the Betway Premiership game versus Orlando Pirates set for Saturday 23 May at 15h00 is not taking place at Royal Bafokeng Stadium the club announced in an official release.

This comes after the stadium authorities confirmed the site remains closed until 30 June 2026. Orbit College is working to find a suitable replacement venue that meets the requirements for such an important event.

An update on the chosen location will follow by Friday 15 May.

A victory for Pirates in their last two fixtures including the home game against Durban City this Saturday and the away fixture at Orbit would likely secure the championship thanks to their much better goal difference compared to table toppers Mamelodi Sundowns who face TS Galaxy in their concluding league outing tonight.
