Odegaard and Havertz ready as Arteta vows Arsenal can achieve something special against Atletico

The two goals during the initial match in Madrid resulted from spot-kicks, with forward Viktor Gyokeres netting for Arsenal and Julian Alvarez finding the target for Atletico.

"They are both ready and part of the team selection. Excellent, since we require choices and the ability to field a strong lineup," Arteta explained to journalists on Monday.

Arsenal currently lead the Premier League standings with just three fixtures left, having been eliminated in the Champions League semi-finals last term by the eventual champions Paris Saint-Germain.

"I am eager for it. I sense the enthusiasm within the squad and surrounding it," Arteta commented.

"As a club and a group, we have put in substantial effort together. The supporters have anticipated an occasion like this for quite some time. We could witness something remarkable."

In the meantime, Atletico boss Diego Simeone noted that his team switched accommodations before the second fixture in London, following their stay at a different venue during the 4-0 loss to Arsenal in the league stage, quipping that it was due to expense rather than the superstitions highlighted in Spanish press.

"We are in stronger form now compared to October. Plus, the new hotel costs less. That is the reason for the switch," Simeone remarked, chuckling.

Regarding injuries, Alvarez, who has recorded 20 goals and nine assists in 48 appearances over all competitions so far this campaign, made the trip with Atletico after his late substitution in the opening leg raised concerns about his fitness.

The 26-year-old Argentine World Cup victor formerly featured for Manchester City.

"Julian plays a key role in matches like this," Simeone stated. "He is very familiar with the competition. His performance last week was solid. I trust that in the upcoming game, he will deliver as required."
