Nottingham Forest Name Vitor Pereira Their Fourth Manager This Campaign
Premier League strugglers Nottingham Forest brought in Vitor Pereira as their fourth manager this season on Sunday.
The former Wolves head coach signed an 18-month deal with Forest, who parted ways with Sean Dyche earlier this week.
Nuno Espirito Santo and Ange Postecoglou were also removed by Forest amid a chaotic term.
"Nottingham Forest is pleased to announce that Vitor Pereira has taken up the role of head coach on an 18-month contract," read a statement from the club.
Pereira faces the challenge of pulling Forest clear of the Premier League drop zone.
Dyche was relieved of his duties after Wednesdays goalless stalemate with the leagues bottom side Wolves.
Pereira had been without a job since his dismissal from Wolves in November following a poor start to their season.
The 57-year-old Portuguese manager kept Wolves clear of relegation in the 2024-25 campaign after replacing Gary O'Neil, yet failed to carry that momentum forward this year.
He has prior experience with Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis at Olympiacos in Greece.
Pereiras debut match in charge of Forest comes next week in the first leg of the Europa League play-off round away to Fenerbahce.
However, his primary goal remains ensuring Forest stay in the Premier League.
The team is three points above the relegation places with 12 matches remaining.
Forest peppered Wolves with 35 shots on goal but failed to score, leading to Dyches sacking mere hours after the match ended at the City Ground.
Dyche had overseen the side for only 114 days, coming after Postecoglous brief 39-day spell that ended in October.
This managerial instability at Forest follows Nunos strong showing last season, where he guided them to seventh in the Premier League.
That achievement qualified Forest for Europe for the first time since 1995-96, though clashes with Marinakis regarding transfers prompted Nunos exit in September after 21 months at the helm.
Pereira built his credentials at Porto with a fruitful two-year stint that brought consecutive league championships.
After a period at Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia, he has handled teams like Fenerbahce in Turkey, Shanghai SIPG in the Chinese Super League, and Brazilian outfits Corinthians and Flamengo.
