Nottingham Forest dismiss Postecoglou following loss to Chelsea

Ange Postecoglou has been dismissed as Nottingham Forest manager on Saturday after only eight games in the role, mere moments following a 3-0 defeat at home against Chelsea.

"Nottingham Forest Football Club confirms that due to a run of poor results and displays, Ange Postecoglou has been removed from his position as head coach effective immediately," stated the club on X.

"No additional comments will be issued by the club for now."

Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis departed his seat midway through the match at City Ground, with the decision on Postecoglou's position announced soon after the final whistle.

Postecoglou took up the post on September 9, coming off Europa League triumph with Tottenham just months earlier, yet with zero victories and six losses in his opening eight fixtures, Marinakis intervened, leaving Forest seeking their third manager this campaign.

In his press briefing ahead of the game on Friday, Postecoglou remained resolute, asserting that whenever granted sufficient time at a team, it invariably concludes "with me lifting a trophy".

Sean Dyche, previously at the helm of Burnley and Everton, is said to be a candidate for the managerial vacancy.
