MLS Revolution name Mitrovic as new head coach
Marko Mitrovic, the 47 year old Serbian coach who guided United States squads to the quarter finals at the Paris Olympics and the recent FIFA under-20 World Cup, has been appointed as the new head coach of the New England Revolution on Friday.
He takes over from Caleb Porter, who was dismissed in September following a disappointing campaign where the team recorded nine wins, sixteen losses and nine draws to total 36 points, placing eleventh in the Eastern Conference and missing the MLS playoffs for the second consecutive season.
"We are thrilled to bring Marko Mitrović on board as our head coach," said Revolution sporting director Curt Onalfo.
"Throughout the selection process, Marko's sharp tactical insight and contemporary coaching methods distinguished him. He clearly aligns with our goals of challenging for silverware in 2026 and the years ahead.
"His broad experience in club and international football, including appearances on major global platforms, equips him perfectly for this key position."
Mitrovic spent fifteen years as a midfielder with teams across Europe and Asia before hanging up his boots in 2010. In his coaching career, he has worked as an assistant at the MLS Chicago Fire and Englands Reading, prior to his roles with the United States national teams.
