Mikel Arteta Hails Emirates Fans After Arsenal Beats Atletico Madrid

Arsenal secured a 1-0 victory in the return fixture at the Emirates thanks to a goal by Bukayo Saka during the opening period.

The team, yet to claim a European title, will now take on either Paris Saint-Germain or Bayern Munich in Budapest towards the end of this month, marking two decades since their previous final outing.

"This is a fantastic evening. Sharing such experiences with our fans, our squad, and everyone involved in the club creates an unforgettable sensation," said Arsenal manager Arteta to Amazon Prime.

"It all falls into place, considering the efforts we invest and the challenges we face, especially when you observe all those joyful expressions and the pride in our achievements.

"From the very start, it was extraordinary, the way our fans welcomed us at the venue, the vibrancy, the enthusiasm they brought, it was truly inspiring to experience."

Arteta mentioned that his squad drew energy from the electric vibe at the Emirates.

"They established the tone, and we aimed to match their intensity right away. After all these years, it feels wonderful to repay them with such delight and witness that sense of accomplishment in their gazes. It's truly rewarding."

Arsenal Cohesion

The Spanish coach highlighted the strong bond among his players as the most satisfying aspect.

"Making some of those choices was tough, and I have a deep respect for the players since I know how dedicated they are, and today I spoke to a few, telling them, 'Sorry, but I'll stick with the same lineup'.

"Their immediate response was, 'Count on me whenever required, I'll support the team fully,' followed by a warm embrace, so what more could I ask for?"

Arteta noted that Saka, who made his senior debut for Arsenal back in December 2019, was an ideal scorer for the decisive strike.

"It required a truly exceptional individual, and he is undoubtedly one for me, for the team, and for all connected to this club, so if anyone was going to net that goal, it was likely him."

With four matches remaining this campaign, the Gunners are pursuing a landmark achievement of capturing both the Champions League and the Premier League.

They hold a strong position to secure their first domestic title in 22 years, leading Manchester City by five points despite having played an extra fixture against Pep Guardiola's side.

Veteran Atletico manager Diego Simeone refused to offer justifications following his side's loss.

"Our elimination stems from our rivals earning their advancement, as they capitalised on their key opportunity in the opening half and rightfully progressed. I remain composed and at ease," he stated to UEFA.

"We lacked sharpness in the positions we found ourselves. We performed better after the break. Some moments could have turned in our favour, but they did not.

"We committed everything, and now we must embrace our current standing. Gratitude to our followers and the squad, I take pride in our position at this moment."
