Mbappe and PSG trade lawsuits over sums reaching hundreds of millions

France skipper Kylian Mbappe on Monday sought 240 million euros about $278 million in compensation from Paris Saint Germain amid a growing row concerning his contract terms and the handling by his previous team.

Paris Saint Germain responded with a lawsuit against Mbappe who transferred to Real Madrid last year demanding 180 million euros via the labour court in Paris. This amount stems from a failed 300 million euro deal to Saudi outfit Al Hilal that the forward turned down.

The 26 year old lodged his initial grievance in June regarding his experiences with Paris Saint Germain during the opening of the 2023 24 campaign.

He feels the club under Qatari ownership marginalised him forcing him to train alongside squad members they aimed to sell off since he declined to sign an extension.

Such tactics have impacted fellow professionals leading the French players association to file a formal objection last year.

Mbappe received no invitation for Paris Saint Germains 2023 summer trip to Asia and sat out the campaigns debut match yet returned to the lineup following discussions with management.

Following seven years at Paris Saint Germain he secured a no fee move to Real Madrid this past summer on a reputed 30 million euro yearly wage.

He netted 256 times across 308 appearances for Paris Saint Germain though the team lifted the Champions League trophy for the inaugural occasion last term post his exit.
