Mateo Retegui sidelined for rest of season with tibial fracture from Saudi Pro League match

The Italian forward, boasting 11 goals across 28 international outings, suffered the setback right after netting a goal and setting up another in Tuesdays 2-2 tie against Al Shabab.

Medical checks have verified that Mateo Retegui has suffered a fracture in the lower part of his tibia Al Qadsiah announced on X.

He faces surgery soon and will miss the rest of the campaign the club stated.

Born in Argentina the 26 year old Retegui has found the net 16 times in 28 appearances in the Saudi Pro League this year. He played a role in Italys squad that fell to Bosnia and Herzegovina in last months 2026 World Cup qualification play off decider.
