Martin O'Neill named as Celtic boss through season's end
On Monday, Celtic named Martin O'Neill as manager through the close of the season, after the Scottish title holders dismissed Wilfried Nancy earlier that same day.
A club statement announced: "Celtic Football Club can confirm that Martin O'Neill will be joining the club as manager until the end of this season."
The statement continued: "Martin will be supported by Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham as assistants, as well as Stephen McManus, who will join our existing coaches, Gavin Strachan, Stevie Woods and Greg Wallace to oversee first-team matters."
The 73-year-old previously served as interim manager for eight matches after Brendan Rodgers departure in October, claiming seven wins in those outings.
O'Neill, who handled the Glasgow club full time from 2000 to 2005, handed over to Nancy in early December.
However, the French manager faced dismissal on Monday after only eight games in the role, including six losses.
O'Neill is back at the helm with Celtic holding second spot in the standings, six points adrift of table toppers Hearts, in the wake of a 3-1 home defeat against fierce opponents Rangers.
The setback in the Glasgow derby triggered demonstrations from discontented supporters outside Celtic Park, marking the decisive factor for the boards decision on Nancy's future.
