Marc Guehi to leave Crystal Palace, says Glasner

Manager Oliver Glasner has confirmed that Marc Guehi informed Crystal Palace he refuses to extend his contract with the team.

Last month, the England defender came close to transferring to Liverpool right before the deadline, yet Palace halted the move abruptly, thus forgoing a substantial payment.

Glasner disclosed that the player, whose deal expires in 12 months, has notified the team that this represents his last year at Selhurst Park.

"The club wanted (him to stay). They offered Marc a new contract but he said, 'No, I want to make something different', and that's normal," he said.

"And for us, it's how we can deal with this situation. (What) is the best way to get this next step done? And that's all about how we are talking together."

Since arriving from Chelsea in 2021, Guehi has featured in 167 matches for Palace and led them to victory in the FA Cup during May. He boasts 26 appearances for England.

This 25-year-old might depart via sale in January or depart without fee when the campaign concludes.

Guehi, a constant presence in Palace's lineup this term, becomes eligible to negotiate pre-contract terms with overseas teams starting January 1.

Reports suggest Palace aims to offload him in January, with Liverpool potentially challenged by interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich.

Currently sixth in the Premier League standings ahead of the weekend games following a strong opening to the season, the London side will welcome in-form Bournemouth on Saturday.
