Manchester United Confirm Casemiro Departure at Season End

Manchester United have confirmed that Casemiro will depart the club at the conclusion of the current season once his contract expires, as announced by the Premier League side on Thursday.

The Brazilian midfielder joined from Real Madrid back in 2022 in a deal worth £70 million ($94 million) and has appeared in 146 fixtures for United to date, finding the net on 21 occasions.

"A proven champion, we appreciate Cases contributions while wearing the red shirt and aim to end his stint here on a positive note together," the club posted on X.

In an official statement from the club, Casemiro expressed that he will "always carry Manchester United in my heart for the rest of my days".

"Right from my initial step onto the pitch at this magnificent ground, I sensed the fervour of Old Trafford and the bond I now cherish with the fans for our remarkable team," he added.

"The farewell is not yet upon us, there are plenty more moments to build over the coming four months."

Now aged 33, the central midfielder built his illustrious career at Real Madrid, securing five Champions League triumphs during his time there.

Casemiro netted the first goal in Uniteds victory over Newcastle in the 2023 League Cup final, helping the side secure a third place finish in the Premier League that year.

However, he was absent from the squad during their FA Cup final success against Manchester City in the subsequent season.

As one of the top paid players at Old Trafford, Casemiro shared on his Instagram profile that he will remain "eternally" a Red Devil.

"Recognising the right moment to depart when you know you will be cherished and honoured indefinitely," he wrote.

"Four months left to pour everything into this emblem and our objectives. Endless admiration and fondness for Manchester United and its incredible supporters."

United sit in fifth position in the Premier League table before their Sunday away match at table topping Arsenal.
