Manchester City confront Omar Marmoush transfer decision as several clubs track his situation

Omar Marmoush, the Egyptian striker, signed for Manchester City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January 2025 for approximately £59 million, yet his future at the Etihad Stadium remains unclear.

Last season, Marmoush featured in 21 Premier League matches, but started only eight of them.

He ended the campaign with three goals and three assists. Although he has not actively sought a transfer, it is believed he wants to secure a regular starting role elsewhere.

With Pep Guardiola having departed and Enzo Maresca expected to be announced as his successor shortly, Manchester City are entering a new chapter, leaving several players with uncertain futures.

According to sources, the club would be willing to discuss Marmoush's exit if an appropriate bid comes in. Ideally, City would hope to recover most, if not all, of the transfer fee they invested in him.

The player himself is believed to be eager for a more significant role at this point in his career.

At 27 years old, Marmoush is nearing his prime and may be unwilling to spend another campaign battling for limited chances in a squad brimming with attacking options.

Interest in the forward is starting to surface. Tottenham Hotspur previously inquired about Marmoush when they were also monitoring Savinho, and the North London club are thought to still appreciate his versatility and attacking attributes.

Aston Villa are also admirers and would consider exploring a possible move. Villa's involvement in next season's Champions League could be an appealing factor for a player looking for both consistent playing time and European football.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid have been linked with Marmoush as they evaluate possible replacements in case Julian Alvarez leaves. Alvarez has drawn interest from Barcelona and Arsenal, which could push Atletico to seek another forward.

Barcelona have also been suggested as a potential destination for Marmoush.

The recent addition of Antoine Semenyo has intensified competition for spots in City's forward line and affected Marmoush's position.

As the squad is anticipated to keep evolving in the summer transfer window, Marmoush might find himself even lower in the pecking order, making an exit a feasible outcome.
