Liverpool manager Slot insists Salah bond remains intact

Arne Slot maintained that his connection with Mohamed Salah remains strong despite benching the key forward for Liverpool's Champions League match against Inter Milan.

"I do not see it that way though he is entitled to his own views on the matter. I have never sensed any such issue" Liverpool manager Slot remarked to fans.

The Egyptian striker skipped the trip to Italy even after joining the starting squad in training that morning following his claim of feeling "thrown under the bus" by the team and losing ties with Slot.

Salah voiced those thoughts after sitting out the last three matches in a 3-3 stalemate with Leeds.

When questioned if Salah with 250 goals for Liverpool since arriving from Roma in 2017 had featured in his final game for the club Slot responded: "I really have no idea."

"At present I cannot provide an answer to that" Slot continued.

"He can think whatever he likes but sharing it publicly with the press is not appropriate."

Liverpool currently languish in ninth position in the Premier League amid a poor run of results exacerbated by Salah's remarks against Slot.

The side has secured only four victories in 15 outings across all tournaments and holds 13th spot in the Champions League on nine points following a heavy 4-1 home defeat to PSV Eindhoven in their latest continental fixture.

As the highest earner in club history after penning a fresh deal in April Salah was pivotal in Liverpool's two Premier League successes and one Champions League victory over his storied tenure at Anfield.

Yet this term Salah has underperformed amid the champions' woes leaving them ninth with merely four strikes in 13 league outings.
