Liam Rosenior confirms Enzo Fernandez will stay suspended for Manchester City match despite apology

Consecutive Premier League losses to Newcastle and Everton have left Chelsea in sixth position, trailing fifth-placed Liverpool by one point and fourth-placed Aston Villa by seven.

Rosenior seeks his second Premier League win in his past seven outings as expectations mount on the Englishman, who focuses primarily on securing a Champions League qualification spot over the remaining seven fixtures.

Enzo Fernandez to miss Manchester City encounter

To start with, he verified that Enzo Fernandez will not feature in the game against City following remarks about his future that "crossed a boundary", including hints at interest from Real Madrid.

"We shared a productive discussion. He has expressed regret to me and the club. We shall address it following the crucial match on Sunday," Rosenior stated.

"One must not exceed the appropriate penalty for the error. I reached a conclusion. My hope for Enzo is a stellar career ahead. He will not feature on Sunday.

"Certain principles and ethos that I uphold can fortify the club when properly implemented."

Rosenior optimistic about earning full points

Chelsea continue to be deprived of the injured Filip Jorgensen, Levi Colwill, Reece James, Trevoh Chalobah and Jamie Gittens, prompting Rosenior to shuffle his lineup, a group he feels can inflict significant harm on City.

"My ego is not so large as to disregard others. Pep (Guardiola) has shaped the entire football world. He is an exceptional manager with a remarkable record, yet I desire my squad to demonstrate their potential on Sunday.

"He has claimed silverware, revitalised his group. He also took time to establish a distinct approach.

"We must remain alert and avoid errors, for City will capitalise on them."

Can Chelsea defeat City: "Certainly we can. We are a strong outfit, enduring a tough spell. Reviewing our recent matches, we have troubled every opponent but failed to convert that into outcomes."
