Liam Rosenior claims full support from Chelsea owners amid poor run of results

A narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Manchester United on Saturday has positioned Chelsea sixth in the league table on 48 points, with just five fixtures left to play. As various sides narrow the gap from below, their prospects of securing a spot in next years Champions League appear significantly undermined.

Chelseas difficulties have intensified due to their challenges in converting chances. They have drawn a blank in each of their previous four league losses, equalling the clubs longest run without a goal in matches since 1912.

They now head to ninth positioned Brighton and Hove Albion on Tuesday.

Pressed on whether the owners continue to trust him, Rosenior responded with conviction.

"100%," he stated to the press. "They have stood by me, with our regular discussions showing ongoing encouragement.

"We recognise the need to secure victories right away, yet this aligns perfectly with our aim for enduring achievement and steady progress over time."

Rosenior stepped in as Chelseas head coach back in January, signing a deal that extends to 2032, after Italian Enzo Maresca exited on New Years Day.

The 41 year old from England marks the fourth full time appointment at the West London outfit since Todd Boehlys acquisition in 2022.

"We have to win," Rosenior declared. "This club insists on it, quite justifiably, and the supporters share that view. It revolves around claiming triumphs in the game, as that defines football itself.

"Discussing the future makes no sense without delivering in the present. In all frankness and with full respect, our recent performances have fallen short, and I take full accountability for that as the teams leader."

Regarding injuries, Estevao will sit out the journey to Brighton, whereas teammate Joao Pedro remains a decision for later.

"Joao worked on the training ground today. We will finalise his availability first thing tomorrow," Rosenior noted. "Estevao will miss the game for sure, while we conduct additional assessments on his condition."
