Lens extend winning run, Endrick nets first for Lyon in Coupe de France

Top Ligue 1 side Lens claimed a convincing 3-0 win over third-division Sochaux in a snow-postponed Coupe de France round of 32 clash on Sunday, as Real Madrid loanee Endrick marked his debut Lyon goal by scoring the decider against Lille.

The fixture, delayed from Saturday night due to heavy snow, saw Lens, yet to lift the Coupe de France, make just one change by resting experienced midfielder Florian Thauvin against a Sochaux team with two previous triumphs in the competition.

Odsonne Edouard put Lens ahead in the 22nd minute, but it took until the 87th for Matthieu Udol to make it 2-0, with Abdallah Sima adding a third two minutes later to confirm a ninth straight win across all tournaments.

Up in northern France, the 19-year-old Brazilian Endrick delivered a sharp finish to give Lyon a 2-1 victory at Lille in his first appearance for the club.

The game kicked off at a rapid pace when Afonso Moreira glanced a long ball over Lille keeper Arnaud Bodart to give Lyon the lead just 49 seconds in.

Lille drew level in the 28th minute through Nathan Ngoy, who capitalised on poor Lyon defending as Hakon Haraldsson set up the equaliser for the defender.

Buckling the flow of the match near the break, Endrick justified Real Madrids 47.5 million euro investment from 2024 by slipping unmarked at the far post to tap in a Corentin Tolisso header and secure Lyon's progression to the last 16.

In other action, beleaguered Nice edged Nantes 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in their Ligue 1 matchup.

Montpellier triumphed 4-0 away to Metz, while Rennes overcame fourth-tier Chantilly 3-1.

Le Mans progressed via a 4-1 penalty shootout after a goalless draw with Nancy.
