Lens advance to French Cup quarterfinals with ease Endrick powers Lyon onwards

Lens secured their place in the quarterfinals of the French Cup on Wednesday with a convincing 4-2 victory against Troyes yet an Endrick led Lyon managed to overcome secondtier Laval.

Strikes from Florian Sotoca and Andrija Bulatovic along with a pair of goals from Abdallah Sima propelled the unexpected Ligue 1 frontrunners Lens past their last16 opponents.

Martin Adeline equalised just before the break for the Ligue 2 toppers Troyes however three quickfire goals within eight minutes shortly after halftime sealed the game for Pierre Sages team.

Facing Ligue 2 underperformers Laval at home Lyon found it tough to penetrate until a brilliant solo effort from Real Madrid loanee Endrick.

After a powerful surge by midfielder Pavel Sulc the 19yearold Brazilian shrugged off a defender then fired a fierce shot from outside the penalty area to score in the 80th minute.

This marked Endricks fifth goal across his last five appearances for Lyon since his arrival from the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of December.

Lyon clinched their 11th win in a row across all competitions when Lavals goalkeeper Maxime Hautbois accidentally deflected Afonso Moreiras attempt into his own goal deep into stoppage time.

Bottomofthetable Nice staged an impressive recovery in their last16 clash versus Montpellier triumphing 32.

The home side were down 20 during the second half until Kail Boudache reduced the arrears with 18 minutes left to play.
